At the inauguration of our stand, we will host a roundtable featuring three key stakeholders of the WFAS certification:
- Edelmiro Ulloa, Managing Director of OPPC-3, who will share the perspective of the organization that created the WFAS standard.
- Javier García, Technical Director and WFAS Auditor, who will provide clarity on the certification system and requirements.
- Isabel Núñez, Director of Walvisfish, one of the fishing companies certified by WFAS, who will share her insights on the benefits of being part of the standard, as well as the importance of such initiatives for the future of the fishing industry.
The main topics that will be addressed during this roundtable include:
- The importance of certifying what is already being done well: how WFAS highlights onboard freezing, wild catch, and social responsibility.
- Trust and differentiation in the market: what WFAS offers, how it complements other certifications, and how it supports fishing companies and traders.
- Real experiences from members: tangible benefits for certified companies (communication, subsidies, sector advocacy, etc.).
- Technical and control perspective: why WFAS is a solid guarantee of traceability, food safety, and sustainability.
- Looking ahead: the future of the fishing industry and the role WFAS can play in global commercialization.
